As a queer woman married to a trans man in southern Appalachia, I live in a constant state of stress and fear, especially recently. Unsure of what may happen when we go to the gas station or Walmart or our own dang backyard. Unsure of what crushing blow to our rights that the Supreme Court or state legislators may dole out next.
I felt the drooping, dying flowers were especially appropriate. It felt good to bring my feelings to life on metaphorical paper.
I drew this in Procreate with paper texture overlays from True Grit Texture Supply.
